We can all look up at the clouds and see something totally different, but there's such a significant feeling of connection when we are able to see the same image. This also parallels how we interpret people's emotions and expressions. There’s often a disconnect between one’s expression and our true feelings. We can never truly be inside someone else’s head, but there almost seems to be a release when we are able to “understand” each other. Cloud gazing in a way is similar to reading people’s faces. It’s open for interpretation, which depends on where we are at ourselves and how the other person tends to express themselves. By masking the faces in this series, the room for interpretation of expression is amplified. It is brought to light that something other than physical facial form can even convey a truer representation of emotion.
